Luciana Pellegrino is unanimously re-elected for a second term as WPO President during the 115th Board Meeting, in Düsseldorf.

The re-election reinforces the confidence of WPO members in a leadership model focused on governance, collaboration and strategic development.

The World Packaging Organisation (WPO – www.worldpackaging.org) Board Members unanimously re-elected Luciana Pellegrino, from Brazil, for a second term as President (2027-2029), during the 115th WPO Board Meeting, held during interpack 2026, in Düsseldorf.

The re-election reinforces the confidence of WPO members in a leadership model focused on governance, global collaboration and strategic industry development at a time when the packaging sector faces profound transformation driven by sustainability, regulation, digitalization, food protection and circular economy challenges.

In her statement following the announcement, Luciana Pellegrino said: “I am honored to lead WPO for another term and to work alongside members from so many countries around the world. My guiding principles are a business-driven approach; transparency and governance; collaboration and teamwork; commitment and consistency; continuous learning and improvement; and building strong relationships and partnerships.”

Under Luciana´s leadership in the first term (2024-2026), WPO has strengthened its international positioning  and has featured at international global stages speaking on behalf of the packaging industry, such as the World Circular Economic Forum, when the paper ‘Navigating the food and loss paradox’ was launched together with UNIDO and WUR, and as important WPO’s first attendance as panelist at COP28 and at the emblematic COP30 in the heard of the Amazon.

The second term, starting on January 1st, 2027, is expected to deepen several strategic pillars looking at WPO’s flagship long term projects and vision.

The new mandate also comes at a moment when packaging is increasingly recognized as a strategic enabler of sustainability, supply chain resilience, product protection and consumer trust.

The 115th WPO Board Meeting gathered 50 members from 37 countries and was part of WPO’s extensive participation during interpack 2026, one of the world’s leading trade fairs for processing and packaging.

About Luciana Pellegrino

Connected to the packaging industry since 1996, when she was invited for an experience at Bryce Corporation in the USA, Luciana Pellegrino became the first woman to assume the Presidency of the World Packaging Organisation (WPO).

Her background in packaging includes nearly 30 years of experience leading ABRE (Brazilian Packaging Association), one of the most important packaging associations in Brazil and Latin America, where she currently serves as Executive President.

She also brings more than 20 years of experience within WPO. Prior to her first term as President, she served as WPO Senior Vice President of Marketing.
